About Us
Preferred Metals Corporation started in 1986. Our original name was Southern Fresh, Inc. and after a couple of different directions we fully focused on metals in 1991 and changed our name to Preferred Metals Corporation.
Preferred Metals Corporation is NOT affiliated with any other company named Preferred.
Our company was founded by Jeff Cross and Greg Ayers. Both men graduated from Ball State University in 1983. After a short corporate career, they decided to start their own business.
After surveying the metals recycling landscape in the Indianapolis area, Preferred Metals found that we could best be of service by providing to your door pick-up to companies which previously had to haul their material to a metals recycler, which has created a route system that places one of our trucks close or near most locations in Central Indiana.
One of the sectors we work closely with are companies which generate scrap electrical wire. Because of this specialty it has led to companies outside of Central Indiana to request our service. Preferred Metals is now servicing electrical contractors in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Northern Indiana areas.
We continue to look for new ways to grow our business while keeping service to our customers top priority.
